Community Announcements

 
There are extracurricular activities that many Tuckahoe students enjoy, but that are not sponsored by the school and/or the PTA. In order to help our students connect with activities inside and outside the classroom, the PTA has compiled a list general information on a variety of activities across the area. 
 
Note, the PTA does not endorse or recommend any of these programs and only provides them for awareness. This is not a complete list of organizations and activities - the PTA will try to keep it updated as we receive information on these groups.

To be included in this list, an organization must meet the following criteria:
  • The organization activity must be consistent with the Tuckahoe PTA mission
  • Groups should be composed of primarily Tuckahoe students

Sports

Baseball

Arlington Little League

 

Arlington Babe Ruth

       This spring, more than 1,000 Arlington kids will play on an Arlington Babe Ruth baseball team. Join us!
 

 

  • Play on teams with neighborhood and school friends.
  • Blastball and T-Ball programs available for our youngest players.
  • Build skills with fun exercise.
  • Opportunities for parent coaches and volunteers.
  • Scholarships and financial aid available.
  • ABR participates in the Washington Nationals Team Up uniform program. We are all Nationals!
  • Registration is open now for girls and boys ages 4-12 and at all skill levels through the ABR website www.ArlingtonBabeRuth.com 
  • Register by Feb. 9.  Practices will begin in early March and games will begin in early April.

 

 

Basketball

Arlington County Parks and Recreation runs basketball programs for children each winter.  There are usually one or more Tuckahoe teams each year so ask around or ask the program coordinator for help finding one.

Football

Arlington NFL Youth Flag Football is part of the National Football League’s official flag football program that allows boys and girls to play non-contact flag football in a fast paced and exciting environment.

Running

Girls on the run is a program for girls in third grade and older.  For more information on the program, please go to Girls on the Run.  

 


Soccer

The Northwest Lions are the neighborhood recreational soccer club for kids in the Tuckahoe and Nottingham school areas.  The Lions are part of the Arlington Soccer Association (ARL) which runs recreational, travel and other soccer programs.  ARL rec teams are organized by gender and grade level. Teams generally consist of kids from the same school. Most rec teams practice once per week at nearby fields.  Rec games are on Saturdays (with one Sunday game) and may be at any field in the county.  The season runs from September through mid-November and April through June.

Indoor Winter Soccer

 

If your kids need to burn off energy in the winter, Arlington offers indoor soccer for kids starting in 1st grade.  The games are played at the Arlington Mill Community Center and at the Gunston Bubble.

The Fall Church Force Wrestling Club is dedicated to developing the character and overall athleticism of youth athletes in the Falls Church area through the challenging sport of wrestling.
