Welcome to the Tuckahoe Elementary School PTA Website!

Welcome to the Tuckahoe Elementary School PTA website. This site has been created with our families and teachers in mind as a place to keep information about PTA activities, school activities, and let you know about resources around the broader APS community.

Please consider joining the Tuckahoe PTA!  Our goal is 100% participation.  Being an active member ensures that you are involved in volunteer and fundraising activities and that you are "in the know" on what's happening at our school!  To join, click here!

As always, please check out our various
information sources for Tuckahoe and Arlington Public Schools (APS) news, as well as ways we can help our fellow community members across Arlington.

New to Tuckahoe

If you are new to the Tuckahoe community, please consult our New Family Guide
or reach out to us for support.

Accessing Class Lists

If you are looking for a class list and contact information for other students in your students' class, you can consult our online directory. To see the online directory, please renew or become a member of the PTA. In 2018, Virginia passed a law prohibiting the ability of schools to share any information about students unless they express opt-in to share yearly. You can opt-in via APS ParentVue, but the quickest way to bring the online directory up-to-date is by updating your information on the PTA website and/or renewing/joining the PTA. See instructions or contact the PTA Secretary for assistance.

We hope all of our school staff, families and community members are staying safe and healthy throughout this unprecedented time.

Our next Tuckahoe Spirit Night will be on Wednesday, October 11 from 4-10 PM at Dogwood Tavern in Falls Church.  Mention "Tuckahoe" and the PTA will earn 10% of food and beverage sales!

Help needed for the Tuckahoe Book Swap

The Tuckahoe Book Swap is back! Bring your gently used elementary appropriate books in exchange for tickets. Then bring those tickets to the Book Swap on June 7 to exchange for "new to you" books for the summer. To make this happen WE NEED VOLUNTEERS! Sign up to help with donations, setup, event help, and/or cleanup. We especially could use someone to help with coordinating the much-loved sweet treat for the event. See https://bit.ly/book-swap-help to find more details and sign up and contact Lisa Backer with any questions..

How it works:

  1. At home, decide which of your gently used books would be good to exchange (a maximum of 10 per student). Books must be gently used (no rips, stains, missing pages or writing), school and age appropriate. Please no preschool books, coloring books, magazines, or adult books (including cook books targeted to adults).

  2. Bring book donations to Tuckahoe June 5, 6, or 7 from 8-9am or June 7 for the early release from 1:15-3pm.

  3. Students will get a ticket noting how many books they bring in, which they will then use during the Book Swap to trade for other books. (Families are also able to donate books without swapping and/or donate books directly to support the mission of Reach for Uganda.)

  4. Students are responsible for their own tickets.

  5. On Wednesday, June 7, from 6:30-8pm, students will bring their tickets to exchange for book/s. All trades are final. No money will be exchanged for the Book Swap. This is strictly a book recycling activity.

  6. Once the Book Exchange has been completed, all remaining books will be donated to other programs.

The rising Kindergarten meet-up originally planned for May 13, 1-3pm has been rescheduled due to the rainy forecast.  Instead, please join us on Saturday, May 20, from 9-11am at Tuckahoe Park.  We look forward to meeting our kinder families then!

Please mark your calendars for Tuckahoe's 2nd annual Global Dance Party! The event will take place on Friday, May 12th from 6:30-8:30 at the Tuckahoe parking lot. There will be a live DJ, dancing, games, prizes, snacks, and more. A variety of countries will be represented through snacks, music, and decor…and there will be glowsticks for purchase. For any kids needing a break or not into dancing, there will be a Quiet Zone. The event is free with a suggested donation of $5/student or $10/family and any remaining proceeds will benefit the PTA. This dance is an easy and fantastic way to have some fun outdoors, listen to famous songs from around the world, support the PTA, and promote diversity and inclusion within our community.

Parents/guardians: This is not a drop-off event, please stay with your child and enjoy the festivities.

We need your help to make this event a success! There are many small volunteer opportunities. Please sign up here to volunteer.

If you have any questions, reach out to the Tuckahoe Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee at diversity@tuckahoepta.us.

We look forward to seeing you on the dance floor!
