DISCOVERY SCHOOLYARD
What Is The Discovery Schoolyard?
Installed in 1996, the schoolyard has been a staple of Tuckahoe student learning. It encompasses garden areas (by grade-level) and outdoor classrooms.
Students get many opportunities throughout the year for hands-on, nature-based lessons - growing & harvesting (and eating!) vegetables, measuring outdoor conditions, observing wildlife, STEAM lessons and more!
This is a wonderful partnership between the PTA (helps funds upkeep and improvements) and the Tuckahoe school. To learn more, visit the Discovery Schoolyard website.
Volunteers Needed!
Parent & community volunteers help maintain the gardens. There are many ways and many opportunities to get involved, and to work with your kids in a fun outdoor setting. Volunteers assist with gardening, carpentry, documentation/photography, in-kind donations, and assisting Discovery Schoolyard clubs.
